DESCRIPTION

UNIPROOF RBE is cold applied rubberized bitumen for use as a damp proof membrane in sandwich construction, as general purpose water proofer for walls, floors and other structures, and as a vapour seal. It is also an effective adhesive and bonding agent for insulation boards, expanded polystyrene, cork panels etc. UNIPROOF RBE can also be used to fill cracks in concrete and asphalt up to 5 mm wide.

ADVANTAGES

    • Single component.
    • Water based – nontoxic.
    • Non-flammable.
    • Resists attack by chloride and sulphate ions.
    • Can be applied to green concrete.

Standard compliance:

Complies with concrete curing requirements of ASTM C309 when applied at a rate of 1.25 m2 per litre

APPLICATION

UNIPROOF RBE should be applied by brush, Roller or squeegee to prepared surfaces. Stir well before use, replace lid when not in use. Soak up any spillage with sand or sawdust and wash down surface immediately.

Damp proof membrane and vertical vapour barrier

Apply UNIPROOF RBE at the rate of 2 m2 per litre per coat to a dry film thickness of approximately 250 microns. Two coats should be applied, allowing the first coat to dry completely before applying the second. The second coat should be applied at right angles to the first. All applications should be continued up verticals to the existing damp proof course. Ensure the membrane is not punctured or damaged during subsequent operations. Where the surface is to receive a render or plaster finish, a keyed surface should be formed by gritting the second coat of UNIPROOF RBE with clean, dry sand. Allow a minimum of 48 hours drying period before plastering, rendering, or laying floor screed.

Repairs

Damaged areas of UNIPROOF RBE can be readily over-coated to restore the continuity of the membrane.

Cleaning

UNIPROOF RBE can be removed with clean water. Once the UNIPROOF RBE has dried, it can only be removed with Solvent (Kerosene).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Surface preparation

All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dirt, dust, oil and grease. All loosely adhering particles such as rust, scale, cement laitance etc. should be removed. All organic growth should be removed using a fungicidal wash, followed by thorough washing with clean water.

LIMITATIONS

Application should not commence if the temperature is below 6oC or above 55oC. UNIPROOF RBE is water based and remains soluble until thoroughly dry. It is therefore important that it should not be applied during rain or when rain is expected.
